engineering & collaboratinggoing big!handling STress
As you encountered buckling from stress in certain parts of your structures, many of you added marshmallows and spaghetti to those locations to provide further support. By doing so, you distributed the stress to other parts of the structure away from the breaking point. The bones in our bodies do something similar. What do you notice about the spongy bone tissue in the femur cross-section?

This is an excellent way to connect to human anatomy especially the skeletal system. In what ways might you have them build a structure similar to bones themselves using ? as materials (simulating bone and cartilage). Also they might explore how stem cells are being explored as replacements for damaged cartilage in hips, knees etc versus using artificial materials (advantages? disadvantages?). Well done!!
